These plates are made from palm leaves. They aren't meant to be perfect, they aren't meant to be clean. Different leaves come in different shapes and colors. This might not be the right plate for you. The leaves were cleaned before they were put together, but the stains stayed. I think that the plates add a special touch. I was debating on whether or not to return them, but my husband loved them and said it exceeded his expectations, so we decided to keep them.
