The Dobie's are bad for the environment, but the compostable Loofahs are better. The first one we had lasted 2.5 months, and we had no problem with bad odors. Dobies tend to develop holes in the scrubbing cover quickly, and can sometimes smell after use. The Dobie does a good job of scrubbing and cleaning, but the Loofah seems to clean up easier. The dobies can become stained fairly easily, while the Loofah can not. There are some things that are CONS: The Dobie is softer than the Loofah, which makes cleaning delicate glassware a bit more difficult. Over time, this didn't end up being a big deal and the Loofah becomes more flexible. The Dobie is the only one that can create suds and hold dish soap. The Dobie does a better job of generating suds than the Loofah. Either you need to use more soap, add more soap, or accept the fact that there will be less suds. There is a The Loofah won. It's not perfect, but it's a good scrubber that's better for the environment and more durable than other scrubbers. We'll probably have the perfect dish cleaner if they ever create a loofah wrapper around a plant-based sponge. Natural loofah sponge scrubbers are the best until then.

The reason it only gets 4 stars is because the coconut scrubber part falls off the sponge after about a week of use. The parts are in great condition, but must now be used as separate pieces, which isn't what I wanted. Do and make do.
