Best Eco Friendly Lunch Containers for Kids

👤I bought 2 of these for my daughter because I was trying to not expose her to unnecessary plastic. They're great. I like the section that has an option to add more or less of an item. Silicone muffin liners are just the smallest bit larger than the lunchbox height and will keep items from falling out when the lid is closed. I could fit a carton of juice inside the cooler bag with the ice pack and lunch box in place, and there's room for a spoon/fork. There is a One of my favorite things about the steel is that it's dishwasher friendly, so I don't have to worry about plastic getting too hot or chemicals getting into my daughter's food. The set is more affordable than some of the lunch boxes out there.

👤I ordered a second one after I bought one, my girls are excited to use them, they loved them. Lunch boxes and bags are sturdy and well made, with no weird smells and well packaged. Even though the ice pack was missing in one of them, I still gave them 5 stars. I have another one that works just as well. I didn't complain about it.

👤I bought two in 5-20 and have used them daily since. Everything is working as it should. There are a lot of things, such as Zippers, seams, welds, etc. It's easy to clean up. I need the carrier to keep things cool for 6 hours a day while it sits in my workspace because it is not very insulated.

👤We've been using lunchbots for years and still have some of their first containers. I like that they are non-toxic. I like the large trio because I can give my daughter a full meal. There is usually still room in the larger compartment for a sandwich and a muffin cup. There were no complaints. Before ordering, pay attention to the dimensions of the container. This is larger than the other containers because it holds a full size sandwich. It is leak-proof because you don't put anything that is oozy, melty, liquidy. It could transfer to the next compartment if something is leaking. I've packed fruit without any issues.

👤I don't like plastic. It is easy to break and end up in a landfill. We have been removing plastic from our lives for 10 years. Glass containers are heavy and not easy to split into multiple containers, so our daughter's lunches have to be in a single container, or they will be soggy. The steel bento box we looked at was promising as it could fit a full size sandwich, however, it was too difficult for our daughter to open on her own, and it was not worth the price. It should be $10 for how simple it is, as well as to allow more people from all income levels to start choosing steel over plastic. It was encased in bubble wrap. It's not optimal if this is the company's direction or Amazon's. The bento box we bought was delivered in a cardboard box, not bubble wrap. It's still overpriced, but more functional and easier to open, at $26. If you're purchasing this to avoid plastic, please go for it! There is nothing wrong with it. My opinion is based on cost and similar options.

👤I was concerned about the quality of the bento because of other reviews that claimed the metal was thin and the lid was flimsy. Definitely by the case! These are strong with a lid. There was no sloppy detailing of the interior dividers. I bought the Bento Trio Large for both of my preschoolers and they are fantastic. Pottery Barn's Classic lunchbag has them in it. The base is hard to open because it is the only way to get the lid off. I put a paper towel over the food to make sure it doesn't shift into the two smaller compartments. Definitely recommend. To keep track of, it's easy to use. Well made and sturdy. I love them.

👤I like packing my lunch with a LunchBots because of the following reasons. I can make a cute lunch. This has been motivating. I used to hate packing my lunch because I used to have to throw it away. There is something satisfying about packing my lunch. I look forward to packing my lunch now, which is odd for me. 2. One thing to carry and one thing to wash is all that is needed. 3. There are restrictions on what I can pack in it because it's not leak-proof. I find this helpful because I can make a nicer presentation with dry foods, but also because it limits my choices at the grocery store. I walk around the store and think about what I'm going to buy, rather than what I'm going to put in my lunch. There are too many choices. 4. I didn't know I needed to make things fit perfectly. It's like a garden for lunch. If you're not able to carry it horizontally, it won't work. I have a fridge that I can store in while I'm at work, so I don't have to worry about carrying it. I don't use a lunch box. I have yet to use it on a day when I ride my bike. I think I'll get a PlanetBox for a while. I'll have to save for a PlanetBox, they're very expensive. I would buy this Lunchbot again in a heartbeat, even though it was a bit expensive.

👤The second compartment doesn't fit the lid. The spoon is too small to fit in your mouth and the fork is too sharp to fit in your mouth. It's not proof of a leak.

👤I love this. I wanted a cute bento box to take to work with me. I commute from Jersey to NYC by taking various transfers and walking a lot. I needed something that wasn't too heavy and didn't fit in my bag, and it was beautiful. The bento box from the company exceeded my expectations. I haven't put soup in it yet, but I have put in some lentil coconut curry and salad dressing, and they are both very good. They have not spilled anything from the containers.

👤This lunch box was received today. I am a college student. It's the perfect size for a young adult who is trying to portion food and doesn't take up a lot of storage space. The utensil is the best part. It has a fork, knife, spoon, and chopsticks. I don't use chopsticks but I can finally use the utensils given to me.

The container leaked from the very beginning, even though there was only a small amount of condensation. We suspected the wrong ring. We couldn't adjust the ring to fit between myself, my husband, my adult/teenage children and many coworkers. The size was off and left us with more ring than we needed. I contacted the company through Amazon asking for help attaching the ring as well as telling them about the issues I was having. They did not want to put liquid in the container. Cucumbers are naturally water based and I don't pour liquid into these containers. The response to the silicone ring was to snap it into its proper location, which was tried by many individuals and became a joke at work. They didn't have any help from their customer service. We gave it to our niece because she now carries crayons and hair barrettes. If you want something that is functional for carrying your lunch look elsewhere.

👤The bento box has three levels and is good for keeping your whole lunch together. The leakproof top only works if you don't accidentally knock one of the latches open, which is frighteningly easy to do, and it doesn't fasten down reliably. I don't want to put liquid in it. There are two The groves on the sides and bottom are fine until it's time to clean it. You have to let the whole thing soak in because it gets stuck in the grooves. There are three This is a minor concern, because each level doesn't line up with the other compartments as easy as you'd think. You have to move the compartments around on top of one another until you feel like they are in place. It did surprise me, but I can live with it.

👤I love Bento! I control my portions and eat less for lunch. There are cherry tomatoes, pretzels, cheese cubes, rice, lettuce, and many other things in here. You have to put it together correctly or it won't open. I don't care for the side latches because they didn't work as well as they should have and my food spilled everywhere. I haven't had any more accidents now that I'm more aware of this. Even though I put croutons in there, they stay crisp. The bag it comes with is also nice. I love the spoon and fork.

👤The bowls are very cute. The butter rusted inside after less than a month of being stored. I saw a reddish-brown color in my butter as I was taking it out of the bowl. I emptied the container, washed it, and noticed the steel had eroded and rusted. It was horrible quality. I can't send it back because I noticed it after the return window.

👤For about 2 months, use these products. It's easy to clean and come in different sizes which is useful. The thermal insulation part is easy to get into with the water. I don't know how the water got in. I put the bowls on the top shelf of the dishwasher because they are dishwasher safe. After 1.5 months, we started to hear the sound of water in the bowls. I'm worried that mold orbacteria will remain in the thermal insulation part.

They are made with insulated waterproof liner and outside pockets. I had to buy green and blue in 2 different sizes because our son's have their own special colors. I'm not sure if the right size lunch bag will hold Stacking Bento Box Lunch Box 3. Bento Lunch Box has Compartments. It is leak proof and I love the 2 small square containers. I am able to prepare fresh garden salads, fresh fruits and fresh sandwiches for my son's with ease. I make fresh lunchables for our son now that I no longer spend money on Lunchables.

The containers without the lids are easy to clean by hand and can be used in the dishwasher. The containers are microwaveable, and the Silicone vents in the lids work perfectly. 3. Adaptability: This is a large box by bento box standards, but the four different containers allow you to mix and match for whatever size meal you like. It's perfect because I usually fill all four sections, but I pack two meals in it for a long day of work. 4. It's easy to fit into tall insulated lunch boxes and bags. 5. I use the pick more than I thought. 6. There is space between the top of the containers and the bottom of the lid that is perfect for sliding a napkin or a treat into. There is a The cons are 1. It does well in the microwave, but high heat or long heating times can cause some damage to the containers. It might bother some people. 2. The spoon and fork are small and not practical for many meals. They don't need to be that small to fit in the box. It would be great to include a pair of chopsticks in the lid instead of the fork and spoon. 3. You have to be gentle with the hinges. I think they're strong and well-designed for the box, but you can't force them down if the sections aren't lined up right. I wouldn't recommend this box to younger kids. 👤Get the bundle. It is a great deal for only $10 more. If I have food that could leak through, I usually cut unbleached paper to line the compartments. Silicone cups and small leakproof jars are much easier to use. I was trying to find cups that fit, but they didn't leave me with a lot of space. The answer is the bundle. The cups are perfect for liquid foods like melon, yogurt, or other liquid foods. The container is small enough to fit dressing. The container with the lid fits in this box as well. The Lunchbots container with nuts is to the left of the empty Tavva container.

👤I don't think I'm satisfied with the Lunchbots container. The sections should have been leakproof for the high price. They only had to attach the longer strips. I ordered this one because I couldn't remember the name of the bento box I wanted. They could have made it easier to open with a tab. My daughter might throw her food out if she tries to open it at school. I wanted to return it and get the Planetbox Rover bento but I missed the return period for LunchBots. I thought I had more than a month. I bought the Lunchbots a month before school started so I didn't have time to check it out for my daughter. I am stuck with it. We still don't use the Lunchbots or their big lunch bag months later. I contacted the company that makes them several times explaining my issue, and they don't care, reply is they're a small company, and my response was if that was true. I'm done with it. I will probably give it away or put it in a cabinet until my daughter wants to carry it.

I think the extra money for the bento bundle was well spent, as you get things that help you if you have some dipping sauce or other foods that you want to take with you. I keep this box in a low profile insulated lunch bag and a couple of ice packs to keep my food fresh when I am not able to get a fridge.
