There is no need to switch between the two types of sponges to get a tough job done. I can use the scrubber side on anything without any scratching. The scrubbing layer doesn't peel off after a couple of weeks. The Scotch-Brite sponges hang onto smells. The Scotch-Brites don't last very long once run through the washing machine, so I toss it in with my laundry once a week. The actual sponge part starts to split and lose pieces within a week whereas these don't do that for a month. There is a I have given some of these sponges to other people, because they are so much better than Scotch-Brite sponges. They also like these better. I think one of the sponges will last me 2 12 times longer than the sponges I have been using for decades. I will never use any other sponge than these.

The coconut meat imitation is much softer than the coconut fiber one. Initially, bending the sponge to get around or inside the cups was a little stiff, but eventually softened. The Cellulose should be the same as the other sponges. These should be more resistant to odors as well. I try to rinse the sponges out and dry them after each use, it seems to be working for me so far, it's just a personal habit. If you have to bleach them out, make sure to add water to the bleach to make it less damaging to the Cellulose. I am very pleased with the sponges, they are not harmful to the environment and are compostable.
